Street Vendors in Istiqlal Mosque Area will Be Arranged Soon

The Central Jakarta Government will soon arrange street vendors (PKL) in the Istiqlal Mosque area to follow up on the mosque administrator's request.

The arrangement will be carried out persuasively with outreach to street vendors

Central Jakarta Deputy Mayor Irwandi mentioned the mosque administrator asked for PKL arrangement because the Mosque would be reopened for worship during Ramadan. Hereby, around 40-50 street vendors would be relocated to Lokbin Abdul Ghani in Johar Baru and Palmerah.

"The arrangement will be carried out persuasively with outreach to street vendors," he conveyed, Thursday (3/24).

According to him, three spots in the mosque area would be closed for street vendors to make it more organized. The Gambir Sub-district PPKUKM Unit would list the street vendors who would be relocated.

"The closure trial starts today. Hopefully, it can run well," he said.

Ikhsan, a street vendor in the Istiqlal Mosque area admitted that he did not mind being moved. Especially if the new location would be crowded with buyers.

"Hopefully, there will be more buyers in the new place," he expressed.
