Jakartans, Beware of 5 Diseases at the Peak of the Rainy Season

Jakarta Health Department urges Jakarta residents to be aware of various diseases in the peak of the rainy season which is expected to take place late January to February. Surely, such condition will trigger various diseases, such as acute respiratory infection (ISPA), dengue fever, diarrhea, chikungunya, and leptospirosis.

According to Kusmedi Prihanto, Head of Jakarta Health Department, each year, the number of people attacked by those diseases is fairly volatile. But, its number until this January has decreased than the previous year.

"This January, there are 146 dengue fever cases and no one dies. As for the diarrhea patient is not much different than last year," he expressed, Friday (1/30).

He acknowledged his department has taken several steps and preparation for facing the diseases in Jakarta, particularly flood victims. One of them is by distributing drugs to community health centers (puskesmas) in each sub-districts.

To suppress patients with dengue fever, the fogging will be done to citizen residential. "We'll intensify fogging in citizen residential as dengue fever anticipation," he uttered.
