Thousands of joint personnel under the Jakarta Provincial Government, Kostad, Kopassus, Marine, and Brimob on Thursday (11/10) hold a cleanup action along the Ciliwung River.
It takes cooperation and synergy as is the case today
The action started with a joint ceremony at the Makostrad field, Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur led by Jakarta Environment Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto.
According to Kuswanto, Jakarta opened up space for all residents in the development of urban planning. Indeed, the government cannot work alone to create better conditions than before.
Flood in Cawang Receded, PPSU Helps Clean Garbage and Mud"It takes cooperation and synergy as is the case today. We are on the Makostrad field with different colors and backgrounds with one goal," he said, Thursday (11/10).
He explained the Jakarta government together with the ranks of the national army, police, and the community worked together to hold cleanup action in the Ciliwung River.
"In its development, the Ciliwung River faces many challenges including decreased flow capacity due to river narrowing, sedimentation, decreased water quality due to household waste pollution, and increased waste disposal carried in streams that have the potential to flood in Jakarta," he explained.
According to him, the government continues to make various efforts to restore ecosystem functions as well as waste management in the Ciliwung River stream.
"We send around 182 personnel of Jakarta Environment Agency to 56 waste handling points every day. We have also installed 11 floating cube blocks and 10 units of heavy equipment scattered along the Ciliwung River which crosses Jakarta," he explained.
He added, data from waste handling along the Ciliwung River flow last year had decreased by around 20 percent. The results of the water quality data conducted in the fourth period of 2022 recorded that 4 of the 18 water sample points taken experienced light pollution and two points were categorized as moderate pollution.
"Hope today's action can create a better result," he added.
As for the information, thousands of joint personnel were deployed in joint community service along the Ciliwung River. They are deployed to five points of the Ciliwung River flow, namely the Marine Corps Headquarters, Army Headquarters, Religion Ministry, Foreign Ministry, and Istiqlal Mosque.
