Djarot: Rare Trees in Jakarta Must Be Preserved

Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidajat instructs the Jakarta Parks and Cemetery Department to plant rare trees, such as Menteng and Gandaria in parks that spread in Jakarta.

"I want rare trees to be preserved in Jakarta," stated Djarot, on the sidelines of tree planting at the Komarudin Flat, Penggilingan Urban Village, Cakung Sub-District, East Jakarta, Sunday (2/1).

Djarot: Urban Village Head Must Understand Any Problems

According to him, it is very ironic if the rare tree is gone from Jakarta. Whereas, Jakarta is a city that was initially very concerned about the environment.

"Can you see our region is always related with various types of plants, such as Kebon Melati, Kebon Pala, Gandaria, Menteng, Pondok Kopi, Duren Sawit, Kampung Rambutan, Kebon Nanas, Kebon Jeruk, etc," he told.

That is why, Jakarta Parks and Cemetery Department was instructed to plant rare trees because of children nowadays cannot compare rare plants with other plants such as Gandaria Menteng trees in five cities. 

"We should have Menteng tree in Menteng Park, likewise with other parks, namely Gandaria and Kebon Pala," he stressed.
