Heavy Rainfall Causes Inundation Points in Jakarta

The water level at three sluice gates in Jakarta has forced the authorities to raise their status to alert levels II and III after heavy rain last night. Those gates are Sunter Hulu Post has been at alert-II status, Krukut Hulu Post at alert-III status, and Manggarai at alert-III status, causing inundation at some points.

Jakarta Regional Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Head, Isnawa Adji said that personnel had been alerted to monitor inundation conditions in each area, including personnel from Bina Marga Agency, Water Resources (SDA) Agency, and Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat) assisted by urban village and sub-district heads for sucking up water and ensuring the storm drains to function properly.

"We try to recede the water as soon as possible," he said, Tuesday (11/29).

Inundation at Four Points in Jagakarsa Receded

He explained that the inundation that previously hit six neighborhoods is now seven neighborhoods or 0.023% of the 30,470 neighborhoods. The public is urged to remain vigilant to potential inundation.

"Call the 112 hotline number to report inundation cases. This is free of charge for 24 hours non-stop," he stated.

- Total: 1 neighborhood

- Height: 60 centimeters

- Cauise: Oveflow of Pesanggrahan River and Uangan River

Cilandak Barat Urban Village

- Total: 1 neighborhood

- Height: 40 centimeters  

- Cause: High Rainfall and Overflow of Krukut River

East Jakarta with 5 neighborhoods

Cawang Urban Village

-  Total: 5 neighborhoods

- Height: 50 to 100 centimeters

- Cause of Overflow of Ciliwung River
