Those joint personnel consisted of the Indonesian Military (TNI), police, Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), Ciliwung-Cisadane Flood Control Office (BBWSCC), Emergency Ambulance, and other related units. The ceremony was attended by East Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar, South Jakarta Economy and Development Assitant, Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Ministry Operations Development Director General, Ade Nandra, BBWSCC Head, UNDP, and Ciliwung Lover Community.

Thousands of Personnel Join Cleanup Action along Ciliwung River

After the ceremony was done, all personnel immediately cleaned the Ciliwung Riverbank in Kramat Jati and Pancoran sub-districts. The related officials also did sweeping to Ciliwung using six rubber boats belonging to the TNI, one unit belonging to BPBD, one unit belonging to Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat), and one boat belonging to Jakarta Environment Agency. They directly monitored the implementation of mud cleanup at the two locations.

East Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar said that the Gerebek Lumpur action was realized in collaboration with the Jakarta Provincial Government with PUPR Ministry, TNI, Ciliwung Lover Community, and locals. The message of this activity is how Ciliwung becomes a healthy public space for Jakarta residents. He was present representing the Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono.

"This concept is to create a clean and healthy Ciliwung. This also educates people to love the river, as the river is not a waste dump but a destination," he stated.

Hopefully, the community could be friendly with the river and no longer throw garbage into the river, thus it can trigger inundation or flooding.
