Dishub to Strict Sanctions for Persons Involved in Illegal Parking

To combat illegal parking in Jakarta, the Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) keeps coordinating with the Operations Control (Dalops) and Supervision and Control (Wasdal) for Transportation Sub-agency in five city areas.

"The raid against illegal parking that has been held so far complies with applicable regulations," expressed Jakarta Dishub's Parking Technical Unit (UP) Head, Aji Kusambarto, Monday (12/5).

Based on Gubernatorial Regulation No. 188/2016 on Public Parking Areas Managed by the Regional Government, his party manages parking on roads in the capital city.

"UP Parking manages more than 300 on-street parking points spread across five areas of the city," he stated.

Central Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Head, Wildan Anwar explained that as many as 278 personnel on duty in eight sub-districts in Central Jakarta and sub-agencies were deployed to control traffic and illegal parking every Monday to Sunday.

"Personnel were deployed on some roads with busy motorcycle activity or in Senen Market and Tanah Abang Market areas, Galur Underpass, Banteng Field, and Salemba Raya," he explained.

His party also instructed them not to play with or protect certain groups or mass organizations that manage illegal parking on some roads.

"We have managed to crack down on dozens of motorcycles due to illegal parking. The drivers will be charged under ticketing sanction. Some cars were also towed with the same problem," he uttered.

Therefore, he called on residents to comply with traffic signs by not parking motorcycles on the road, causing traffic jams.

"We also put up socialization banners to urge residents not to park carelessly," he closed.
