Acting Governor Hopes Christmas Goes Safely and Conducively

Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono hopes that a safe and peaceful atmosphere will be maintained during the Christmas and New Year celebrations in Jakarta.

The statement above was conveyed after he attended the ceremony for Centralized Police Operations Forces through Operation Lilin Jaya 2022 at Silang Selatan Monas Field, Central Jakarta, Thursday (12/22).

The ceremony itself was participated by 2,195 joint personnel led by National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Indonesian Military (TNI) Chief Nominee Adm. Yudo Margono

According to Heru, it was a joint effort of all stakeholders to create a sense of security and peace for the people who will celebrate Christmas and New Year in Jakarta.

"Hopefully, the Christmas and New Year celebrations in Jakarta will run smoothly. Let's take care of this city together, thus these two activities run conductively," he hoped.

He also appreciated all ranks of TNI and police to create a sense of security and peace for Jakarta residents. He assessed cooperation between the three pillars with the TNI and police would make the Jakarta Provincial Government strong and not struggle alone in maintaining a conducive atmosphere, during Christmas and New Year.

"Thank you for all. Of course, all joint personnel that will be deployed will work very professionally. Hope our efforts to create a conducive atmosphere will run well," he added.

National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo said according to President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo's directions that preparations for all sectors and stakeholders in anticipating disturbances and problems during Christmas and New Year must be prepared, thus people feel comfortable and safe.

He explained there were various potential glitches to watch out for. For the health side for instance, we must remain alert to the potential for a spike in Covid-19. Therefore, it is a must to strengthen health protocols.

"Regarding traffic engineering on Eid al-Fitr 2022, it can be used as a reference for implementing contraflow and one-way on toll roads, as well as arteries, it must be done flexibly. This also adapts to the field situation and refers to vehicle volume data from PT Jasa Marga's traffic counting. The next step is massive socialization before traffic engineering to the public," he explained.

In the Lilin Jaya 2022, there would be around 166,332 joint personnel. They would be placed in 1,845 security posts, 695 service posts, and 89 integrated posts, including 52,636 security objects.

"This is aimed at creating a sense of security and comfort in the community," he stated.
