Acting Governor Heru: CCTV at Ujung Menteng UP PKB Must Be Intensified

CCTV must also be connected to the UPT Head's room for direct monitoring

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono instructed the Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) to add CCTV (closed circuit television) cameras in the Ujung Menteng Motor Vehicle Testing Service Unit (UP PKB), Cakung, East Jakarta.

According to him, it was important to monitor the activities of officers when carrying out the vehicle's Drive Test process.

"CCTV must also be connected to the UPT Head's room for direct monitoring," he said while inspecting the Ujung Menteng UP PKB, Monday (12/26).

Every day, he stated, about 300 to 350 vehicles take the Kir test and 10 vehicles fail the test with the majority having inappropriate brake issues.

To ensure good service, he also had time to test the headlight tester tool with his smartphone flashlight, including the joint play tool.

"We heard that only one officer was managing Kir's test here. Drivers are prohibited from getting out of the vehicle, so the officer checks until it's finished," he asserted.

Ujung Menteng UP PKB Information Service Staff, Sari Wariastuti admitted that she was surprised by the arrival of Mr. Governor and his staff. She even experienced nervous feelings when answering his questions regarding the technique and mechanics of driving a vehicle at this location.

"Surely, nervous when he asked me but I can answer it considering the questions are common and are usually asked by people every day," she admitted.

She explained that in this kir test, the applicant must first register via the e-kir Jakarta booking application.

"Then the applicant pays directly to the Bank DKI teller or can via the ATM," she explained.

Ujung Menteng UP PKB Executing Unit Head, Suratman added 330 vehicles undergo road tests every day and five percent did not pass the kir test.

"Except for Saturday, the number of vehicles undergoing road tests is only 264 vehicles," he added.
