Pluit Pump House Starts to Work Optimal, Agency Says

The flood handling in the capital continues to be optimized by City Government. One of the ways is by maximizing pump house to reduce the puddle. Moreover, the pump houses have worked better as the electricity supplied by PLN (Electric State Company).

Agus Triyono, Head of Jakarta Water Management Dept. uttered, the overflowing Abdul Muis river that lead flood on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat and Selatan is affected by pump house inability at Pluit reservoir to suck up water.

The condition occurred because the Electricity Company turned off the electricity at Pluit since Monday morning.

"Three pump houses at Pluit were cannot work optimally because only powered by electricity generator, so the power to suck the water at Abdul Muis river was low," he said, Monday (2/9).

Fortunately, Agus added, the electric company was turned on the electricity so the pump house can work optimally.

"The flood on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat and Selatan will recede along the optimal work of the pump house at Pluit," he added.

As information, some area in the capital was still submerged including Jalan Medan Merdeka, Gambir, Central Jakarta since last afternoon.

Some police officers with Satpol PP also seen to handle the traffic at the area.
