It was initiated by the Jakarta Government to become an example to maintain togetherness, especially in the diversity of religious communities.
DPRD Chairman: Peace and Tranquility in Jakarta Must Be Maintained"Jakarta is a city that has become a national barometer in maintaining peace and tranquility among people, as well as a reflection of any cities in Indonesia in strengthening a sense of togetherness," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Saturday (1/14).
He hoped that the same event should be a routine agenda. The Jakarta Government wants to send a message to the general public that Jakarta is a home for everyone, and promotes the principles of justice and equality in every aspect of life.
"This is the message we want to tell, regardless of the background, economic conditions, position, position, they are all the same. We must love one another, give one another, and maintain a sense of brotherhood. Let's make the city of Jakarta an example, as Jakarta is successful for Indonesia," he added.
Jakarta Satpol PP Vice Head who serves the event committee, Sahat Parulian Hutapea stated that the euphoria of celebrating Christmas with the Jakarta Government was very high considering that the celebrations had not been held in the past two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, the committee still limited participants to the Christmas celebration to only 6,000 people for the comfort of the participants and health protocols.
"Mr. Governor agrees that we celebrate Christmas, as it has been two years in a row that we have not held a Christmas Celebration like this. We still apply for health protocols," he uttered.
