City Accelerates Sunter River Improvement Project

On Thursday (2/12), the Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama visited the Sunter River improvement project that considered very important to prevent flooding at the area on Jalan Yos Sudarso, North Jakarta.

Basuki said, the Public Works and Housing Ministry is speeding this improvement because the downpour still potential to flush Jakarta and flood Jalan Yos Sudarso near the river. Basuki added, the reservoir should be built by the Developers to facilitate the 1,400 luxury residential area. Unfortunately, they not provide the facility. "They should have their own reservoir because Sunter system cannot handle Kelapa Gading area," he added.
Meanwhile, Iskandar, Ciliwung-Cisadane Flood Control Office (BBWSCC) Head stated, the process has reached along 1,400 of 1,800 meters in total. "We expected the project will complete on Saturday or Sunday," he stated.
