Flood Inundates 12 Urban Villages

Until 12 PM, we recorded 12 urban villages in Jakarta submerged

The high rainfall flushed the capital and its surrounding area has inundated 12 urban villages.

Bambang Suryasaputra, Head of Informatics and Handling Section, Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) said those 12 urban villages are spread Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, and West Jakarta.

"Until 12 PM, we recorded 12 urban villages in Jakarta submerged," he stated, at City Hall, Monday (2/9).

According to the agency's data, in West Jakarta, the water level in Cengkareng Timur Urban Village is reaching 10-40 cm and Kapuk Urban Village 10-60 cm,

In Central Jakarta, the water level in Petojo Utara Urban Village reaches 10-20 cm, Galur Urban Village 115-50 cm, Johar Baru Urban Village 15-50 cm, Gondangdia Urban Village 5-10 cm, Menteng Urban Villahe 15-50 cm, Serdang Urban Village 10-40 cm, Pasar Baru Urban Village 5-15 cm, and Petamburan Urban Village 30-40 cm.

In North Jakarta, similar condition is also detected in Rorotan Urban Village with water level 5-20 cm and Sunter Agung Urban Village 5-10 cm. "There are 2,698 households whose homes were flooded. Until now, there has been no evacuation" he reported.
