Empat U-Turn di Jakpus Akan Ditutup (STOK)

Four U-Turn Points Triggering Congestion in Central Jakarta to Be Closed Soon

The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) is about to shut down four u-turn points in Central Jakarta this year.

It is done, as these u-turn points often cause traffic jams due to illegal parking

It aims to parse traffic jams that often occur in the surrounding area.

Dishub Head, Syafrin Liputo mentioned the four u-turn points shut down were at Jalan Garuda, Central Jakarta (Wuling Motors point), Jalan Palmerah Utara, Central Jakarta (Bundaran Slipi Pharmacy), Jalan Sukarjo Wiryopranoto (BNI Sawah Besar point), and Jalan Pejompongan (BNI Tower point).

This policy is based on the results of a joint study and evaluation with the Central Jakarta Transportation Agency.

"It is done, as these u-turn points often cause traffic jams due to illegal parking," he expressed, Thursday (2/9).

He said quarterly plans were being worked out which one of them looked at closing four u-turn points.

"Temporarily, closing u-turns will use water barriers or traffic cones. The plan is to start in the first half of this year," he explained.

After being shut down, his party would evaluate traffic conditions at each point. From this evaluation, it would be determined, whether a permanent closure is necessary or vice versa.

"If from the evaluation results after three months it must be closed permanently, we will shut down it," he stated.
