City Evaluates the Kiosk Ownership in Senen Market

To facilitate small traders, Jakarta Provincial Government will evaluate the kiosk ownership status in Senen Market, Central Jakarta. This activity should be taken in order to prevent the kiosk monopoly by some traders.

So, the government comes to control the situation and protect the small traders

Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidajat said, in accordance with the regulation, one trader should only have 5 kiosks maximum. But, there are some traders who control the kiosks more than ten.

"So, we will evaluate it now. Do not let me to have 5 kiosks, my wife have 5 kiosks, my brother have 5 kiosks. It means I sell kiosks instead of selling my goods. We should prevent that," said Djarot, on sidelines during his visit to Senen Market, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (2/17).

Senen Underpass Already Passable by Vehicles

As the result of this monopoly, the small traders cannot grow their business because they have no kiosk and they prefer to become street vendors (PKL).

"The reality now is like that. So, the government comes to control the situation and protect the small traders," he uttered.

Djarot asked Senen Market Head, to collect the traders and the kiosk owner data immediately. Moreover, the market is in revitalization process now and targeted to complete by the end of this year.

"We targeted to complete the project immediately. At least by the end of this year," he added.

Besides that, Djarot also asked the market management and the traders to keep the cleanliness in the market.

"We should change the paradigm. The cleanliness should be the main concern of management and the traders," he told.
