Heru Ensures Safe Staple Food Stocks as Ramadan Approaches

We're checking the certainty of staple foods

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono says he expects the availability of staple needs in Jakarta to ensure enough supplies or safe for the upcoming Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

The statement above was stated when he visited the Cipinang Rice Main Market, East Jakarta today, Friday (3/17). At that time, he also released 12 low-cost market vehicles to fill food bazaars at Military Command (Kodam Jaya), Polda Metro Jaya, Mayor's Office, and Urban Village Office.

Satpol PP to Intensify Operations Ahead of and During Ramadan

This activity is a synergy of inflation control carried out by the Jakarta Provincial Government together with Bank Indonesia, National Food Agency, and Logistics Affairs Agency (Bulog). It was realized in cooperation with the role of Kodam Jaya and Polda Metro Jaya in the escort and distribution so it went well.

"We're checking the certainty of staple foods, one of which is rice. Later on, Mr. Arief (Head of National Food Agency) will also do checking at Kramat Jati. This morning, we also released several low-cost market vehicles to go to locations close to the community," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

He explained those staple foods contained one ton of medium rice, 100 kg of premium rice, 100 kg of sugar, 40 kg of flour, 480 liters of cooking oil, 120 liters of FS premium cooking oil, 30 kg of domestic chicken eggs, 4 tons of frozen chicken meat, and 4 tons of frozen beef.

On that occasion, the Acting Governor also witnessed the collection of food packages for beneficiaries of Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) Plus and ensured that residents received their rights in the form of commodities such as rice, beef, chicken meat, chicken eggs, fish, and milk.

"I also thank Food Station, Pasar Jaya, and Dharma Jaya for jointly controlling inflation and providing staple foods to the community, and ensuring all food ingredients in the field are available ahead of Ramadan," he explained.

National Food Agency Head, Arief Prasetyo Adi mentioned that Jakarta had become a role model in providing certainty of staples for the people.

"So far so good. In a few days, the Acting Governor also plans to make visits outside the area to ensure food stocks. So, the stock also starts from upstream in other areas up to downstream in Pasar Jaya. This is so cool. So, one of the role models that can be emulated nationally," he explained.

PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya President Director, Pamrihadi Wiraryo explained there was a reduction in the price of staples ahead of Ramadan.

"For rice prices, compared to 3 weeks ago, there has been a decline of approximately 1-1.5%. The National Food Agency Head has also submitted a release that has determined the floor price for harvested dry unhusked rice and the new highest retail price (HET). By doing so, the price will be under control," he explained.

Currently, the rice stocks at the Cipinang Rice Main Market were around 19,000 - 20,000 tons. Shortly, its stocks will also be re-entered, thus the availability can reach 30,000 tons.

"The price of rice is confirmed to be below the HET, so people don't worry. The price for medium rice is Rp 10,100/kg but yesterday it was set at Rp 10,900/kg, thus in the derivatives market, it can be priced at Rp 10,400 - Rp 10,500/kg, still below the HET. As for premium rice, the HET is set at Rp 13,900/kg, while it is still priced at Rp 12,100/kg at the market. So, it is still far below the HET," he uttered.

Consumer prices can be seen on the Jakarta Food Info (IPJ) via the infopangan.jakarta.go.id website and JAKI application on the Jak Food feature.
