Satpol PP Sends 100 Personnel to Tanah Abang Market

The Central Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) has deployed as many as 100 personnel in Tanah Abang Market area in order to disturbances to security and public order during Ramadan.

Central Jakarta Satpol PP Head, Tumbur Parluhutan Purba said the patrol in Tanah Abang Market area has been ongoing since Mach 24 and will be continued to D-7 of Idul Fitri.

"Our personnel also block street vendors (PKL) who set up stalls on the sidewalks," he said, Tuesday (4/4).

According to him, they were sent with ensuring that the sidewalks were clear of street vendors. It was focused on Jalan Jati Baru, in front of Block G, Block F, next to Block B, and Block A.

"We always prioritize persuasive actions. But if they are ignored, we will take firm action," he explained.

Every day, he added, two trucks were also deployed to transport stalls and goods from street vendors selling on the sidewalks.

"Hopefully, it can create a sense of comfortable and safe for everyone, especially pedestrians," he hoped.
