West Jakarta to Have 391 Reading Spots This Year

The West Jakarta Library and Archives Sub-agency is about to spread as many as 391 reading spots this year, which aims to increase people's literacy.

Hopefully, resident literacy will increase in order to create higher-quality human resources

West Jakarta Library and Archives Sub-agency Head, Ahmad Jazuri said the 391 reading spots will be spread across sub-districts and urban villages in West Jakarta.

"For the current location, we're still coordinating with the mayor, sub-district heads, and village heads," he expressed, Tuesday (4/11).

According to him, it was done to make it easier for residents to access books, thus their interest in reading would increase. To make it easy for the public to reach, reading points would be placed at health centers, city parks, and other public facilities.

He explained the points to be spread would be in the form of barcodes that could be accessed via residents' smartphones. By accessing the barcode, residents could access 200 book titles that are part of the West Jakarta Library and Archives Sub-agency's collection, ranging from children's storybooks to cooking methods for housewives.

"Hopefully, resident literacy will increase in order to create higher-quality human resources," he hoped.
