With at least million people joining the exodus to their respective hometowns, Jakarta produced far less trash on D and D+1 of Idul Fitri 1444 Hijri, the Jakarta Environment Agency has said.

On normal days, the Bantargebang TPST received averages 7,500 per tons of waste per day. Then on Idul Fitri, it is recorded only 1,987 tons and 2,344 tons on D+1.
Jakarta Environment Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto expressed the volume of waste will only increase again on D+7 of Idul Fitri.

After D+9, the trash trend would return to normal as usual. Whereas before Idul Fitri, there had been an increase in the tonnage of waste disposed of at the Bantargebang TPST.
He added that his party had made various efforts to anticipate the increase in tonnage starting on the upcoming D+7, including the re-activity of garbage cart officers after mudik period, to transport garbage from residents' homes to temporary disposal sites (TPS).
"Based on previous years' experience, we have anticipated an increase in waste. From D+7 to D+9, waste transportation operations will be very optimal," he stated.
