Heru Promotes Greening Programs and Tree Planting Actions Under Toll Road

Thanks to Antam for helping Jakarta with this planting program

The Jakarta Provincial Government continues to strive to increase Green Open Spaces as an action to support the realization of Net Zero Emissions (NZE). On Friday (4/28), under the Becakayu toll road, the Jakarta Government in synergy with PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) launched an action to plant 1,000 trees for NZE 2060.

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono disclosed the land under the Becakayu toll road and its surroundings which includes several sub-districts is still possible for planting. Communities can choose the type of plant according to the characteristics of the location in their area. Related agencies under the scope of the Jakarta Government have a facilitating role according to their functions.

Heru Intensifies Planting of Horticultural Plants

"Thanks to Antam for helping Jakarta with this planting program, including providing tree seedlings, including fruit trees and various other types that can benefit the community and the environment," he stated after planting kristal guava and lemon during the event, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

Not only that, he also ensured tree planting activities would continue in various areas of Jakarta. The ranks of the Jakarta Government discussed to determine the locations and carry out monitoring of these activities regularly and continuously.

Jakarta Maritime, Fishery, and Food Security Agency, Suharini Eliawati explained under the Becakayu toll road is a potential land for planting various types of plants considering its location close to a water source and enough sunlight. It was evident that several vegetable crops planted a few months ago could now be harvested and the results enjoyed by the people who manage them.

"This co-planting with Antam is focused on productive plants that have shallow roots, not too tall and harvest quickly, thus the community can immediately enjoy the results," he explained.

Meanwhile, Antam's plants totaled 1,000 trees with details, as many as 600 trees had been planted on the land under Becakayu toll road and 400 trees were planted today (4/28), consisting of fruit trees, ornamental plants, vegetable plants, and protective plants. Then, at this event, 209 shade trees were also planted from the Jakarta Parks and Forest Agency.

Thus far, Jakarta Maritime, Fishery, and Food Security Agency has planted a total of 5,565 trees, consisting of fruit plants, medicinal plants, chilies, and other vegetable plants in the land under Becakayu toll road.

Operation and Production Director, I Dewa Wirantaya revealed the synergy that carried out together with the Jakarta Government was a form of the company's commitment to support the achievement of NZE 2060.

"Antam as a corporation has a social responsibility towards the environment. In an effort to realize the NZE, we have a target of reducing 2% net zero emission carbon each year. Hence, Antam is synergizing with the Jakarta Jakarta Provincial Government as one of the efforts to achieve this target," he explained.

Antam's participation is expected to encourage other BUMNs to jointly green Jakarta, while increasing food availability and reducing people's poverty. The planting under Becakayu toll road illustrates the spirit of mutual cooperation carried out by the Jakarta Government, especially in the addition of green open spaces (RTH) and urban farming.
