Connecting Channel on Jalan Swadharma will Be Normalized

This year, the channel will be normalized

South Jakarta Administration is about to normalize a connecting channel (PHB) on Jalan Swadharma Raya, Ulujami, Kebayoran Lama. To minimize flood optimally, they will also build embankments and elevate the streets.

"This year, the channel will be normalized," said South Jakarta Mayor, Syamsuddin Noor, Monday (3/2).

According to Noor, the normalization was already projected by South Jakarta Water Management Sub-Department. However its implementation is still waiting for the auction process. "The fund is a lot, thus the project should be auctioned. So, it will be managed by Water Management Sub-Department and street elevation by Bina Marga Department," he explained.

Head of South Jakarta Water Management Sub-Department, Dedi Budi Widodo said besides normalization, his sub-department also plans to build an embankment on the Shangrila Indah Residence which is prone to flooding. "Indeed, the fund is still unknown yet as we're still waiting for the auction. Besides normalization, we are going to build embankments at some points, including in Shangrila Residence," he explained.

Such channel as wide as 2-4 meters would disembogue to the Sepah River, West Jakarta. Usually, the channel always overflowed and flooded the residence and Jalan Swadharma Raya during rainy season.
