Pulogadung PHB Inspection Road Collapsed

Due to often crossed by heavy equipment backhoe, the inspection road of Pulogadung connecting channel (PHB), East Jakarta, collapsed. Thus, motorists are warned to be extra careful when crossing the area.

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, the 8-meter wide and 200-meter long road is cracking for about 100 meters long. Then along 30 meters of it, the road collapsed to a depth of 50 centimeters. The road becomes split into two with a gaping hole in the middle of it. On the collapsed part, sandbags were piled along 20 meters for safety, covering the gaping part of the road.
Somad (45), a local, said the backhoe is used to dredge Pulogadung PHB for as long as 200 meters, starting from the bridge on Jalan Bekasi Raya until Kali Sunter Sluice which located behind the walls of PT Aneka Tambang.

The collapsed road is complained by the workers in Pulogadung Poultry Slaughterhouse (RPU), because the road is the main access for in and out of broiler transporter vehicles. One of the workers named Arman (38) disclosed that the road has been collapsed since Friday (7/11).
“We and RT officials have protested about the collapsed road, but there was respond. This condition is clearly loss for us, because the road is the main access for in and out of broiler transporter vehicles,” he lamented.
According to Arman, about five years ago the same case also had occurred. But, the locals had the initiatives to repair the collapsed road.
“This road is not only needed by Pulogadung RPU, but also by the residents since it is their access,” he told.
Besides causing collapsed road, the backhoe also triggers landslides of the PHB plasters for as long as 20 meters. As a result, mud dredging on the PHB becomes suboptimal. Moreover, the remains of the mud dredging are still piling along the PHB bottom.
Responding on this matter, Head of Conservation Section for East Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department, Nursiwan, explained that to prevent more damages on the collapsed road, the dredging of Pulogadung PHB will be done manually from now on. In addition, his party will help to repair the damaged road.
“The road will be reinforced with concrete. The repair work will be done this week,” he stated.
