Seribu Islands Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency Head, Hendri said biopori holes are very important to preserve groundwater and prevent stagnation when it rains.
"This year, we will have 34 biopori holes in flood-prone areas on Harapan Island," he expressed, Tuesday (5/30).

Each hole are built with a depth of 35 cm using four-inch pipe.
"The work involves four workers and is expected to be completes by the end of this month," he stated.
RW 01 Chairman, Harapan Island, Shobri admitted biopori holes are believed to reduce flooding in the surrounding area.
"Biopori is made to follow up on residents's aspirations in Musrenbang," he said.
