Commission B - KPKP Agency Discusses Supervision of Qurban Animals

Together with Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security Agency (KPKP), the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Commission B held a working meeting regarding efforts to control qurban animals entering Jakarta ahead of Idul Adha 1444 Hijri.

Jakarta DPRD Commission B Chairperson, Ismail expressed the KPKP Agency has coordinated with several supplying provinces to inspect qurban animals that will enter Jakarta in good health.

"This is proven by the existence of screening documents for every qurban animal that will enter Jakarta," he stated, Wednesday (6/14).

His party also asked the KPKP Agency to hold outreach to residents who have been doing this seasonal business to ensure that the qurban animals sold have been verified by a health check.

"Don't just look for qurban animals at competitively low prices and with the orientation of making big margins," he explained.

He also requested that as many as 700 veterinarians to be deployed by the KPKP Agency to check the health of tens of thousands of qurban animals entering Jakarta to work optimally.

"Make sure the animals that enter are well selected with the human resources that have been prepared. As a result, we can minimize sick animals from entering Jakarta," he hoped.

Jakarta KPKP Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati uttered his party had received requests from 99 suppliers with a total of 15,000 animals entering Jakarta.

"Predictably, up to July 26, 2023 or ahead of Idul Adha, around 73,000 animals will enter Jakarta or an increase of around 10 to 13 percent compared to the previous year," he explained.

His party also continues to carry out health checks on animals from outside the area to ensure they do not carry diseases such as foot and mouth disease (FMD).

"Thank God, until now, the animals that entered Jakarta are all healthy," he stressed.
