The Jakarta Environment Agency (LH) together with the Environment and Forestry Ministey are about to train technicians for district/city emission test officers in West Java and Banten provinces.
From that experience, we are ready to work together
This training is in preparation for simultaneous emission tests from August to November 2023 in their respective regions.
Air Pollution Control Director, Luckmi Purwandari said this training was to accelerate the expansion of emission test coverage.
550 Technicians Targeted to Undergo Emission Tests Training This YearAccording to him, the emission tests acceleration for motor vehicles is a joint air pollution control strategy in the Greater Jakarta area.
His party has prepared a mechanism related to the implementation of emission tests.
"At present, we have prepared an emission test application or si-umi and are working with the LH Agency to train 400 workshop technicians in the Greater Jakarta area to support this emission test," he expressed, Tuesday (8/8).
He explained only a specially certified technician could determine whether or not a vehicle's emission test passed or not. In the future, after all the regulations are completed, emission tests will become mandatory nationally
"When this is already underway, the motor vehicle output must attach the results of the emission test as an administrative requirement for motor vehicle tax payments," he explained.
Jakarta LH Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto uttered his party was ready to provide training because the resources and facilities in Jakarta were complete.
"It is done based on Gubernatorial Regulation Number 66/2020 on Exhaust Emission Tests for Motor Vehicles where emission tests are carried out routinely in Jakarta and Jakarta already has a database application that can be integrated with the Police, Tax, and Parking Management," he continued.
This training is a momentum for synergy between stakeholders to tackle air pollution, especially in the Greater Jakarta and other districts/cities in West Java and Banten.
In addition to the complete facilities, the Environmental Agency also has experienced emission test instructors.
"During the grand emission test that was held in June 2023, our officers managed to test 414 cars and 718 motorbikes in Jakarta in one day and managed to set a MURI record. From that experience, we are ready to work together to create better air quality in the districts/cities of West Java and Banten," he closed.
