The certificates were handed over symbolically at Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday (8/22).
City Secretary's Economics and Finance Assistant, Sri Haryati said the issuance of 1,075 new halal certificates for IKM actors is one of the manifestations of the Jakarta Provincial Government's commitment to creating a halal ecosystem for the community.

She explained that industry as the second largest contributor to GRDP in Jakarta played a significant role in boosting economic activity in Jakarta. Improving the quality of industry in Jakarta, especially on a small and medium scale, is the Jakarta Government's concern to make Jakarta a global business center.
"To guarantee the quality of IKM products and in line with the obligations of halal certification in Indonesia, the Jakarta Government has facilitated free halal certification for IKM actors since 2015," she explained.
Besides guaranteeing the quality of halal certification, the product was expected to create comfort for the community, especially the Muslim community. With a Muslim population reaching 9.4 million people, making Jakarta a great potential for consumption of halal products.
She added that the Jakarta Government established a Regional Sharia Economic and Financial Committee (KDEKS) which has the task of one of strengthening the halal value chain.
"In the future, we hope that both industry and Jakarta people can have easy access to halal materials and finished products from upstream to downstream," she added.
Jakarta PPKUKM Agency Head, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo uttered the Jakarta Government is holding regular halal certification registration assistance for 3,075 small and medium industry players in 2023 spread across 44 sub-districts in five city areas and the Seribu Islands Regency administration.
"This year's halal facilitation is divided into three waves. Generally, each sub-district will organize halal assistance with a quota of 75 IKMs each per sub-district," she said.
