The Jakarta Environment Agency (LH) has imposed sanctions on two coal warehousing and storage (stockpile) companies, namely PT Trada Trans Indonesia and PT Tans Bara Energy, which are located in North Jakarta.

The two companies were given administrative sanctions in the form of coercion by the government after they were proven to have not completed environmental management which had the potential to pollute the environment.

Jakarta LH Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto said the sanctions were given based on the orders/obligations stated in the Jakarta LH Agency Head Decree Number e-0054/2023 and e-0073/2023.

"The findings in the field, the LH Agency Team consisting of the Law Enforcement and Compliance Division (PPH), Environmental Monitoring Officer (PPLH), Civil Servant Investigation Committee (PPNS) Polda Metro Jaya, found that the two companies had not complied with environmental management regulations," he explained, in the Jakarta Provincial Government's press release, Thursday (8/31).

The elements that were violated included not having a comprehensive net/net installed at the activity site, not yet managing runoff water from the coal stockpile, and not having a Temporary Storage Site for Hazardous and Toxic Materials (B3 Waste TPS).

Aside that, coal deposits and oil spills were also found in the drainage channel leading to the city channel and there was no domestic waste landfill, as well as traces of burning rubbish and even cigarette butts were found at the coal stockpile location.

He asserted his party had the authority to revoke a company's license if it was proven to have committed a violation.

"Article 495 of Government Regulation Number 22/2021 that we have the right to temporarily stop some or all of our businesses and/or activities if violations of environmental management are found," he explained.

He explained his party would not take action against companies and/or industries that contribute to air pollution in Jakarta.

“We'll take action against all companies that do not want to improve their environmental management. DLH won't hesitate to revoke the company's license," he explained.

Currently, his party is intensively monitoring all companies that have the potential to violate and cause environmental pollution, especially air pollution in Jakarta.

"We're intensifying inspections of all industries in Jakarta by deploying all DLH law enforcement teams to monitor them," he closed.
