The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf) is participating in the Fête de l'Archipel (Festival of The Archipelago) from September 29 to October 5, 2023.

The Festival of The Archipelago is a festival organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Paris, consisting of various series of activities, such as economic and trade promotions, culinary promotions, business forums, and cultural evenings. It also involves the government, business groups, Indonesian society, and the diaspora.

Jakarta Disparekraf Head, Andhika Permata disclosed the Jakarta Government brought the work of designer Batik Gobang and collaborated with Chef Marinka as Jakarta's representative at the Festival of The Archipelago. Batik Gobang and Chef Marinka were expected to promote the potential of Jakarta's creative industry in the fashion and culinary subsectors.

He revealed that the ongoing Festival of The Archipelago could encourage people to get to know Indonesia, especially Jakarta, more deeply. It could certainly explore the potential for cooperation and improve Indonesia's image in France.

“We appreciate the implementation of this activity. Besides being able to introduce Betawi Batik and typical Indonesian culinary delights, it also indirectly supports increasing tourism and Jakarta's creative economy. Hopefully, Jakarta can collaborate with Paris in the future, especially about the tourism industry and creative economy," he expressed, in the Jakarta Government's press release, Thursday (10/5).

As for the information, Batik Gobang is displayed together with eight brands from Indonesia on the Paris Fashion Week agenda, namely the Premiere Classe Showroom on October 4, 2023. Batik Gobang Jakarta is a brand for typical Batik Betawi that focuses on classic Batik Betawi. Gobang itself has the meaning of weapons of the Betawian people in the past and ancient currency.

Then, on October 5, 2023, demonstration activities and Indonesian menu cooking classes are held at the famous culinary school in France, Le Cordon Bleu Paris. One of the Masterchef Indonesia judges, Chef Marinka, who is also an alumnus of Le Cordon Bleu, was brought in to introduce Indonesian food and spices to prospective chefs who graduated from France.
