The North Jakarta and Seribu Islands Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agencies keep intensifying the installation of fire prevention stickers. It is focused on four locations, Tidung Island, South Seribu Islands.

North Jakarta and Seribu Islands Gulkarmat Sub-agencies Sector 8 Head, Dede Budi said it was aimed at pushing public awareness of the dangers of fire.

Indonesia is currently still experiencing the El Nino and Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) phenomena which trigger an increase in extreme temperatures. This condition also risks creating environmental conditions that will be more susceptible to fire hazards.

"Installing these stickers is one of the prevention efforts, thus residents are always alert to the dangers of fire," he expressed, Tuesday (10/10).

He explained today's installation of stickers and socialization on fire prevention this time was carried out at SDN 01 Tidung Island, the Environment Agency, PAM Jaya Office, and Tidung Island GOR.

His party also carried out socialization on fire prevention using loudspeakers in the area of RW 01 and surrounding areas.

"By doing so, they can be more careful and vigilant in anticipating fires during the dry season like now," he hoped.

The action received appreciation from the Tidung Island Urban Village Secretary, Syahrudin. It was because it also needed joint participation and an active role.

Residents were socialized about how to prevent fire by not burning garbage and throwing away cigarette butts carelessly, using electricity wisely, avoiding electricity build-up, and unplugging the gas regulator when traveling.

"Thank God, the potential for fire on the island is very minimal. Nevertheless, this activity is very important, thus locals can remind each other," he stated.
