East Jakarta Intensifies Fire Socialization in 823 Locations during Ramadan

The East Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agency has noted that as many as 823 locations have received fire socialization during April 2022.

The number of socialization activities is 45 locations or more compared to March 2022 which only reached 778 locations.

East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-agency Head Muchtar Zakaria said the number was high after the intensity of socialization during the holy month of Ramadan to anticipate cases of fires triggered by electric short circuits, LPG gas, and others.

"The mayor wants the socialization to be intensified during Ramadan. Thus, we immediately follow up it with a door-to-door system," he expressed, Tuesday (5/10).

He explained that it was also done, as there was a performance agreement target from the Head of the Jakarta Gulkarmat Agency which was handed down to the Gulkarmat Sub-agency and passed on to the Gulkarmat sectors in sub-districts. The performance agreement was mandated, each Gulkarmat sector could at least conduct socialization in 150 locations per three months.

Prevention Divison Head Edi Parwoko added that the 823 locations targeted for socialization consisted of 105 houses of worship, 709 neighborhood roads, and eight educational institutions. The socialization itself involved 68 cars, 392 motorbikes, and 779 firefighters.

"It is done through a loudspeaker of the mosque or musala. We also carry out patrols to residential areas while riding motorbikes and cars," he admitted.

Afterward, firefighters then posted stickers or pamphlets urging fire prevention in places where people could see them, starting from security posts at RT/RW level, notice boards for mosques or prayer rooms, parapets, residents' houses, and other places.

Some points became the target of socialization such as Jalan Lapan I RT 11/09, Pekayon, Pasar Rebo, Al Hijrah Mosque, Gang Salam, RW 08, Kayu Manis, Matraman.

Then Jalan Cempaka Elok, RT 04/09, Cakung Timur, Jalan Kavling DKI, RT 11/11, Pondok Kelapa, Jalan Rawa Jaya RT 06/04, Pondok Kopi, and  Jalan Bungur, RT 12/06, Rambutan.
