Transjakarta Has 22 Units of Electric Bus Fleet

PT Transportation Jakarta (Transjakarta), launched a fleet of 22 units of the newest electric buses from the existing operator of the Metropolitan Ferris Wheel (BMP). Those buses were launched at the BMP Depot, Jalan RE Martadinata, Ciputat Sub-district, South Tangerang.

Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) Head, Syafrin Liputo said that with additional these units, Transjakarta has a total of 74 electric bus units currently operating.

"We from the Jakarta Government would like to thank you for implementing 22 electric buses. Hopefully, it can provide benefits, especially in improving air quality in Jakarta," he expressed.

He stated the 100 units of electric buses which operate until the end of this year.

"The remaining 26 units are still under preparation and it is hoped that they will be paved by the end of the year," he explained.

At the same time, Welfizon Yuza as President Director of PT Transjakarta said the new electric bus fleets would later be operated on the non-BRT network on the Manggarai Station - Indonesia Univesity (4B) and TU Gas - Bundaran Senayan (4C).

According to him, these two routes had never had an electric bus before. Hopefully, residents who have never tried an electric bus could experience using an electric bus, which is very comfortable for customers to use.

“This is our commitment to providing safe and environmentally responsible services. By our reference Clean, Empowered, Bestari, especially in the Clean aspect, we have gradually carried out fleet electrification and empowered existing operators," he uttered.

As for the information, the electric buses from the BMP operator were low-entry type buses that complemented the other electric buses already on the Transjakarta route.

The electric bus from the BMP operator itself uses a chassis manufactured by Golden Dragon (SAG) with a battery capacity of 326 kWh. This bus, with a capacity of 60 passengers, has a travel distance of 250 kilometers or the equivalent of 17 hours of operation with two hours of fast charging.
