This activity entitled "Karya Bakti" was held to anticipate flooding from rivers filled with garbage.

"Today, together with the TNI Chief of Staff, Gen. The Acting Governor appreciated the TNI Chief of Staff who had helped the Jakarta Government together with residents to carry out canal cleaning actions, as well as mobilizing urban farming and planting trees to reforest the area.

“I thank the TNI Chief of Staff for this activity. In fact, since he served as Kostrad Commander, he has helped residents and the Jakarta Government with urban farming, such as planting and picking chilies together, and much more," he expressed.

On that occasion, he also invited Jakartans to help maintain a clean environment wherever they are, one of which is by not littering. "We do not forbid you from selling, as long as you keep the environment clean," he explained.

TNI Army of Staff, Gen. Maruli Simanjuntak explained the Karya Bakti program was held to encourage TNI and police personnel together with residents and volunteers to clean rivers, traditional market areas, and plant trees.

"Facing this rainy season, we must prepare waterways to be clean of garbage, thus flooding doesn't occur, as the water can flow well. Also today, we're cleaning traditional markets and planting trees throughout Indonesia," he explained.

In Jakarta today, around 600 joint personnel from the TNI, police, Satpol PP, and several volunteer organizations were deployed to clean up the Krukut River in the Kodim 0501/JP area and Tanah Abang Market.

He urged his staff to continuously remind the public to keep the surrounding environment clean and work together to clean the environment.

"So, we're working on this program while campaigning for clean living, not throwing garbage carelessly in waterways. Don't disturb the flow of water with garbage. This is done, thus we avoid flood disasters," he continued.

Regarding tree planting in Jakarta, his party is collaborating with the Jakarta Government to plant on empty land, namely former agricultural land that has not been used for a long time. This activity received a good response from the community and the Jakarta Government.

"So, we planted the sleeping areas, perhaps only 1,000 meters with chilies, tomatoes, and eggplants. Apparently getting a good response from the community, Acting Governor and Mayor. Hopefully, it will become a culture, we can plant trees in every small area of land," he asserted.
