Acting Governor Heru Harvests Together and Launches Cheap Food

Ahead of Christmas and New Year, the Jakarta Provincial Government ensures price stability and availability of basic necessities. It is done in synergy with various regions to meet food needs in Jakarta.

Today, Jakarta is carrying out a joint harvest in 345 locations

Therefore, today, the Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono cnducted a joint harvest of chilies simultaneously with the Earth Edge Farmers Group (KTPB), at Buperta Cibubur, Cipayung, East Jakarta, Wednesday (12/20).

The chili harvest was also witnessed online with the Provinces of West Java, Banten, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, and South Sulawesi, which are cooperation partners with the Jakarta Government in terms of developing regional potential.

It is the center for simultaneous harvesting carried out online in six provinces, namely Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, and South Sulawesi.

On that occasion, the Acting Governor was accompanied by Jakarta Acting TP PKK Chairwoman, Mirdiyanti; East Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar; East Jakarta TP PKK Chairwoman, Diah Anwar; City Secretary's Economic and Finance Assistant, Sri Haryati; Jakarta Maritime, Fishery, and Food Security Agency, Suharini Eliawati; Regional Cooperation Bureau Head, Marulina Dewi; Bureau Regional Head, Mawardi; and other related officials.

During discussions with fellow regional heads, he explained this joint harvest effort was conducted to ensure that chili prices could be controlled. Chili harvesting was also conducted in 345 locations throughout the Jakarta area with a volume of around 10.2 tons.

"We report, after doing this harvest, we'll also visit the Market (Main Kramat Jati) to operate the harvest. We're monitoring the price of chilies in Jakarta, which is currently starting to decline, but is still around Rp 90,000. Today, Jakarta is carrying out a joint harvest in 345 locations," he expressed, when he made a dialogue via zoom.

Then he urged his staff in all administrative regions to keep working together in maintaining food price stability. By so, residents would be guaranteed food availability ahead of Christmas.

"We will harvest and hopefully food security will continue to be stable and sustainable," he explained.

Jakarta KPKP Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati explained today's activity was a follow-up to the results of the Acting Governor's meeting with the Acting Governors of West Java, Banten, and Central Java.

During its development, she explained, the DI Yogyakarta and South Sulawesi Province participated in supporting price control and meeting food needs in Jakarta.

"As a form of regional leadership's commitment to stock food needs ahead of Christmas and New Year, today after harvest everyone went straight to the market to review stocks and prices. The last thing is to do cheap food simultaneously," she added.

After harvesting the chilies, the Acting Governor also monitored the prices of basic commodities at the Kramat Jati Main Market, East Jakarta.

On this occasion, dozens of fleets were also released for the Cheap Food Movement (GPM) which will sell quality products from Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) at affordable prices.

Here are details of the cheap food products that will be sold:

1. PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya, commodities in the form of rice, cooking oil, granulated sugar and wheat flour

2. Perumda Dharma Jaya, commodities in the form of chicken and beef

3. Perumda Pasar Jaya, commodities in the form of chilies, onions, oil, rice, sugar, and other basic necessities
