Transjakarta Intensifies Fleet and Operating Hours on Christmas' and New Year's Eve

PT Transportation Jakarta (Transjakarta) is about to push the operational of bus fleets and operational hours on Christmas Eve 2023 and New Year 2024. The operational hours will later be extended until 2 AM.

Our bus fleet is always on standby

PT Transjakarta's Operation and Safety Director, Daud Joseph said the extension of operating hours had been adjusted to the previous year's benchmark data. Meanwhile, the additional buses would be adjusted to the needs of customers in the field.

"Actually, it has been done several years before and is our current benchmark," he said, Thursday (12/21).

On New Year's Eve, there would be several points that become the center of New Year's Eve celebrations. For instance Sudirman-Thamrin Corridor 1 is estimated to have an additional bus fleet of up to 25 percent from usual.

"For instance, on regular service in Corridor 1, there are 60 buses, but there could be an additional 15 buses on New Year's Eve," he explained.

He added Transjakarta had also operated nighttime transportation for up to 24 hours. Hopefully, residents could use this service in Jakarta well in order to parse congestion.

On New Year's Eve, he explained, the number of Transjakarta customers was expected to increase by 16-25 percent. For instance, if on Sunday the number of customers is 650,000-670,000 passengers, then it could increase to 750,000-800,000 passengers during the New Year's Eve.

"Our bus fleet is always on standby. So, we will issue it according to need," he stated.
