Kali Baru Sheet Pile Construction Being Built to Handle Flooding In Tengah Area

The Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA) is being focused on the Kali Baru River sheet pile construction which aims to overcome flooding in the Tengah Urban Village area, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta.

Tengah Urban Village Head, Budi Hartati said the sheet pile being built was started near Kramat Jati Main Market to stop the overflowing waters of Kali Beru River due to a flash flood from Bogor, West Java.

"Hopefully, the residents will be patient for a moment as the construction of the Kali Baru River sheet pile is still being conducted by a third party," she expressed, Thursday (12/28).

In the Kali Baru Riverbank, there were indeed several residential areas inundated when the flood came from Bogor. That was at RT 10, 02, 01/RW 01 Tengah Sub-district. Then at RT 07, the flood occurred if the water volume was very high.

According to her, the two-meter-high sheet pile construction from the bottom of the river took a little time because it had to stem the flow of water.

"Because the water discharge is often high, it is quite disruptive to the implementation of work in the field. We're interested in residents being patient for better results," she concluded.

During the work process, his party routinely monitored the location. The sheet pile construction area must be closed off with a zinc fence for the safety and comfort of residents and workers.

"We routinely do monitoring to see the progress of the work and the results are quite good, the implementation is also fast," she concluded.
