The first phase arrangement of Pekayon Retention Basin on Jalan Raya Pekayon, Pekayon Urban Village, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, is now completed. As planned before, the second phase will be continued this year.

Head Section of Development and Drainage Enhancement for East Jakarta Sub-dept. of Water Resource (SDA), Tengku Saugi Zikri, explained that the retention basin will be continued to the second phase of arrangement.

Last year, his side developed a plaster along 750 meters and 2.5 meters of height. There is also fishing points or cantilever by six points. The plaster was constructed by using grass box material.

"The first arrangement of Pekayon Retention Basin is completed by December 31, 2023. Now we will continue into second stage," he said, Wednesday (1/3).

According to him, of the total land area of ​​1.6 hectares, around 1.4 hectares of reservoirs have been built for wet areas. The rest is for jogging track areas, inspection roads and tree planting.

The jogging track area, continued Saugi, was constructed in stages. It was built on the west side for 200 meters using stamp concrete material last year. Later on, it will be built on the other side with varying lengths.

According to Saugi, this initial stage of arrangement has made Pekayon's Retention Basin face look neater and more attractive.

"At this moment, the area is still closed," he added.

Antonius Yani, the work implementer, revealed that the hard contour of the rocky soil around the location was one of the obstacles in making the sheet pile. His personn el used an excavator fitted with a drill bit at the end for drilling.

He added that the sheet pile grass box was installed at an angle, then concrete slops were installed at the top and bottom and dolken wood as support so that it looked good and strong.

He stated that this reservoir was also built with a waste water treatment plant (Ipal), to filter water from residents' channels. So that the water entering the Pekayon Retention Basin is always clean.
