5,741 Animals in Central Jakarta Vaccinated against Rabies

The Central Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-agency (KPKP) has noted that as many as 5,741 rabies-transmitting animals have received anti-rabies vaccines from March to December 2023.

It is conducted in 44 sub-districts from eight sub-districts spread across Central Jakarta

Central Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Penty Yunesi Pudyastuti said the free vaccination was conducted door to door.

"It is conducted in 44 sub-districts from eight sub-districts spread across Central Jakarta," he expressed.

Jakarta Continues to Prevent Rabies-Transmitting Animal Bites

Of 5,741 animals, 4,686 were cats, 1,007 were dogs. 29 were monkeys, and 19 were ferrets.

"Hopefully, it can stop the spread of rabies in Central Jakarta in Jakarta," he asserted.

Animal Husbandry and Health Section Head, Herawati added that in 2024, as many as 5,681 animals were targeted to get vaccinated in order to minimize rabies cases.

"We want residents to participate in keeping the Central Jakarta area free from rabies cases," he stated.
