Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, inspected cheap basic food activities at the Duren Sawit Urban Village Head Office, East Jakarta, Monday (1/15).

According to him, it would become a routine agenda in all Jakarta urban villages. It aims to maintain inflation by providing stability in the prices of staple foodstuffs, thus they can be reached by residents.

The hope is that all Jakarta residents can feel the benefits and inflation in Jakarta remains stable," he explained.Jakarta KPKP Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati uttered her party was trying to maintain the difference between the prices of basic food items sold through the cheap basic food program and the prices sold on the market.
"Indeed, we will see that there is a difference between the market price and the price paid by the public. In accordance with the Governor's direction, how will the Jakarta Government cooperate with the community regarding price fluctuations," she explained.
She explained the cheap basic food program was enthusiastically welcomed by residents and the benefits could be felt directly. For example for Rp 100,000 buyers can get five kilograms of rice, one liter of cooking oil, one kilogram of granulated sugar, and two kilograms of wheat flour. Aside that, people were also given the option to buy individually or retail.
"So, we see that the enthusiasm of the people is that they really feel the presence of the Jakarta Government to maintain price stability. In essence, we have four strategies for maintaining inflation, including affordability, distribution, price stabilization, and effective communication. Well, today we do it all," she said.
