Food Stock Remain Safe in Early 2024

Jakarta Provincial Government ensures food stock in early this year in Jakarta is safe. Citizens are appealed not to do panic buying.

Jakarta Food Tenacity, Maritime and Agriculture (KPKP) Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati, said the government will remain do program to keep the stock safe, and also handle the price.

The efforts are through urban farming and inter-region cooperation, reducing market demand, and easing food access through mobile cheap food and cheap staple program.

Jakarta Provincial Government started the program at Duren Sawit Urban Village Office, East Jakarta, Monday (1/15). The program was also inspected by Acting Jakarta Governor, Heru Budi Hartono.

The program was aimed to gain citizen's access to get qualified and cheap food.

"This program is one Jakarta Provincial Government efforts in stabilizing price in early 2024. Similar program to be held in other urban village offices," she said, Monday (1/15).

Eli explained that progression in retail food prices at the beginning of 2024 compared to the previous month for horticultural commodities decreased by 10.46 to 17.46 percent. Meanwhile, chicken meat, beef, eggs, sugar and cooking oil commodities are relatively stable.

She added that efforts to control food prices will affect the inflation rate for Jakarta Province, which in 2023 was 2.28 (yoy), lower than the national inflation rate of 2.61 (yoy).

"The achievement of inflation controlling is part of Regional Inflation Controlling Team (TPID)'s work which is supported by Central Government," she closed.

Regarding with the Jakarta Provincial Government's cheap staple food program, the residents are able to buy in form of package or single. The commodities are;

- Staple food: five kg of rice, one liter of cooking oil, one kg of sugar, and two kgs of flour. The price is Rp 100,000.

Retail commodities;

- Four kgs of rice sold Rp 50,000 (market's price Rp 55,600)

- Two liters of FS cooking oil sold Rp 25,000 (market's price Rp 31,000)

- One kg of rice sold Rp 15,000 (market's place Rp 16,500)
