Jakarta KPKP Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati said chilies are vegetables that are needed by many people and the price is relatively higher than other vegetables.

"Supply instability causes chili prices to fluctuate from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of rupiah per kilogram," she expressed, on the sidelines of the Simultaneous Chili Planting activity in Jakarta, Friday (1/19).

She explained PKK cadres could cultivate chilies on limited land by using their home parks. The chili harvest could be used to meet daily needs or sold if the yield was in excess.

"It is also able to anticipate price increases during Ramadan and Idul Fitri 1445 Hijri," she explained.

According to her, chili cultivation was part of the Jakarta Menanam (planting) Movement in a bid to achieve food security. Hopefully, it could be sustainable and will be followed by more people.

"We'll continue to synergize with various parties to support programs to control inflation, improve family nutrition, and overcome stunting," she stated.
