10,500 Chili Seeds Planted at 70 Locations in Central Jakarta

As many as 10,500 chili seeds were planted simultaneously at 70 locations in Central Jakarta, Friday (1/19). The activity led by Central Jakarta Vice Mayor, Chaidir, was centered in Sudirman Park Apartment's social-public facility, Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, Karet Tengsin Urban Village, Tanah Abang.

It is hoped two tons of chili could be harvested later

Chaidir admitted the activity was part of simultaneous event initiated by TP PKK and Jakarta Provincial Government in all Jakarta area. Planting chili is aimed to create food tenacity and hold the inflation rate.

"There are 10,500 chili seeds planted in Central Jakarta today," he said. 

He predicted those seeds could be harvested near the Eid ul Fitr. So it is hoped to be able to also hold the price.

"It is hoped two tons of chili could be harvested later," he said.

Central Jakarta Food Tenacity, Maritime and Agriculture Sub-agency Head, Penty Yunesi Pudyastuti, explained not only preparing seeds, but her side also conducted coaching and management training.

"We have to make sure this plant will work. Including anticipating pest," she stated.
