BPBD Holds Disaster Safe School Socialization at SMPN 139

The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), held socialization activities about Disaster Safe Schools at SMPN 139, Jalan Bunga Rampai X, Malaka Jaya Urban Village, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, Tuesday (1/23).

Students and teachers are expected to be more responsive to disasters, even as early as possible

It was participated by 139 participants consisting of students and teachers at the school.

The material given for the socialization was an introduction to personal protective equipment (PPE), emergency equipment during floods, knowledge of preparedness, techniques, and simulations of independent evacuation for earthquake disasters.

BPBD: Residents Must Be Aware of Potential Landslides

Jakarta BPBD Prevention and Preparedness Division Head, Herry Gunara said the socialization was aimed to make students and teaching staff understand what to do when a disaster occurs.

"By providing these materials, students and teachers are expected to be more responsive to disasters, even as early as possible," he expressed.

Hopefully, school components acquire knowledge and skills in disaster management in a bid to minimize the potential for loss of life when a disaster occurs.

"And transmit understanding about disaster preparedness and response to the people around him," he uttered.
