Jakarta 10K Track Proposed to Be Changed

The city's 488th anniversary committees gave a proposal to look for the international 10K run's alternative track or locally known as Jakarta International 10K.

The event will still be held, but the track is still being discussed due to MRT project on Jalan Sudirman and Thamrin

City's Anniversary Committee Secretary, Irmansyah stated his side is still coordinating with Jakarta Sports and Youth Department to find the 10K run track, considering there is Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project along Jalan Sudirman and Jalan Thamrin.

"The event will still be held, but the track is still being discussed due to MRT project on Jalan Sudirman and Thamrin," told Irmansyah, Tuesday (4/7).

Jakarta 10K Route Has Many Potholes

According to him, the track will be re-considered, whether there will be alternative track or remain use the existing track. "It is still being discussed so far," Irmansyah uttered.

Irmansyah continued, the track itself was already certified from the World Athletics Federation (IAF), ranging from Silang Barat Monas-Jalan MH Thamrin-HI Roundabout-Jalan Jendral Sudirman-Semanggi-Jalan Jendral Sudirman-HI Roundabout-Jalan Thamrin-Silang Barat Daya Monas.

Last year, the same verification was also done due to MRT project. But this year, the project already widespread thus it must be re-certified.
