Kramat Urban Village Owns Independent Fire Hydrant

The Central Jakarta Administration, Tuesday (1/30), inaugurated the operational of Independent Hydrant at RW 06, Kramat Urban Village, Senen.

The independent hydrant is constructed by Jakarta Fire Handlin and Rescue Agency via last year's budget.

Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Agency Head, Satriadi Gunawan said the construction of this hydrant house is an effort to overcome fire disasters in densely populated residential areas that far from water sources and fire stations. Operation is handed over directly to firefighters volunteer at the location.

"This is our effort to handle fire in densely populated area," he said, Tuesday (1/30).

The hydrant house is equipped with stationer pump, water reservoir and hose about one kilometer length. The water reservoir capacity is 14,000 liters.

If fire incident happens, it is hoped the volunteer will be able to operate the hydrant and extinguish the fire before the personnel arrives.

Moreover, the hydrant can also be functioned to support activities such as communal work and channel dredging.

Meanwhile, Central Jakarta Administration Secretary, Denny Ramdany, appreciated the agency for choosing RW 06 of Kramat Urban Village as the first location constructing the hydrant house.

"Please use and maintain the hydrant well," he hoped.
