15 Joint Personnel Evacuate Fallen Tree on Jalan Otista

Around 15 joint personnel evacuated fallen trees next to the Jatinegara Police Headquarters, Jalan Otista, Bidara Cina, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, Wednesday (1/31), at around 7 AM. No fatalities or injuries in the incident.

Evacuation takes around 30 minutes

Bidara Cina Urban Village Head, Suhartono said the five-meter-tall Acacia tree with 40 centimeters diameter fell and hit the back of a passing resident's car.

According to him, personnel consisted of PPSU, Parks and City Forest Task Force, Satpol PP, and police, immediately carried out evacuations, as they were worried about causing traffic jams. 

"Evacuation takes around 30 minutes," he stated.

His party is currently waiting for PT PLN, as electricity cables are hanging down as a result of the fallen tree. However, the cable did not break and the electricity was still on.

"We urge the motorists to be more careful," he added.

East Jakarta Parks and City Forest Sub-agency Head, Djauhar Arifin uttered that if the vehicle owner wants to submit a compensation claim, he/she must first make a report to the police.

"We only help make a cover letter for submitting a compensation claim. The authority to provide compensation lies with the Parks and City Forest Agency," he stated.
