The Jakarta Environment Agency (LH) through the Regional Public Services Agency's Integrated Waste Management Unit (BLUD UPST), signed an agreement to provide alternative fuel from waste processing or refused deliver-fuel (RDF) to offtakers or suppliers of cement industry needs.
This is a strategic step and hopefully it can be an example for other regions in Indonesia
This collaboration is a follow-up to the trial of utilizing waste processing into RDF alternative energy by cement industry offtaker PT Indocement Tunggal Prakasa Tbk (PT Indocement) and PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk (SBI) in June 2023.
Jakarta LH Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto said this collaboration is a step forward in efforts to handle waste.
Heru Launches 3R Waste Management in Ciracas and Rawasari"This is a strategic step and hopefully it can be an example for other regions in Indonesia in waste management," he expressed, Thursday (2

“Large-scale RDF Plant facilities like this do not yet exist in Indonesia. The trial and error process was very long to reach this stage," he explained.
He hoped it could show the government's seriousness in realizing a sustainable energy transition.
"We help industry to realize the energy transition by processing our waste," he added.
PT Indocement Director, Hasan Imer, appreciated the Jakarta Environmental Service for being able to produce RDF according to the desired specifications. Today's collaboration was his party's effort to reduce carbon emissions and help the government reduce waste.
"Through trials that have been ongoing since June 2023, we can finally start to maximize the use of RDF. it is not just a business agreement but a joint commitment to reduce waste," stated.
Manufacturing SBI Director, Soni Asrul Sani this collaboration is a form of maximizing the use of alternative energy, which is in line with SBI's goals.
“Alternative fuels such as RDF can replace the main fuel currently used. This is one form of realization of the energy transition program from waste processing," he stated.
He added the waste problem in Jakarta was starting to come to light. Collaboration between waste managers and offtakers will be important because there is continuous collaboration for a greener future.
"We'll maximize the use of RDF as an effort towards the energy transition," he stated.
