Used Cooking Oil Processing Education Held at SMPN 96

South Jakarta Environment Sub-agency together with Kutub Social House launched a program namely "Program Sekolah Tersenyum (Sekolah Terima Sedekah Minyak Jelantah untuk Mereka)" at SMPN 96 Jakarta, Pondok Labu Urban Village, Cilandak Sub-district.

Sub-agency's Community Participation Staff, Supriatna, said the program is giving education about processing used cooking oil for the student.

"We want to influence students about their awareness and concern for the environment by donating used cooking oil and not throwing it away carelessly," he said, Thursday (2/1).

He added that the program also acknowledged them about the danger of using cooking oil more than three times.

"Used cooking oil contains carcinogenic substances that can trigger cancer," he added.

At the same time, the team also checking the school's preparation for providing waste bank.

"The used cooking oil sale outcome can be used for social activity in at the school," he continued.

Meanwhile, SMPN 96's OSIS member, Vera (14), admitted that she and her friends were able to to collect 14 jerry cans of used cooking oil.

"Thanks to the program for educating us about processing the used cooking oil, as well as the impact for the environment," she admitted.
