Animal Traders on Jalan Latuharhary Controlled

Central Jakarta Administration controlled animal traders on Jalan Latuharhary, Menteng, Thursday (4/9). This control is aimed to enforce Bylaw No.8/2007 on Public order and to prevent the spread of rabies from pets such as dogs and cats.

Moreover, they sell without animal health certificate

In this controlling activity, the officers secured 25 dogs and 3 cats that taken to Ragunan Animal Hospital in South Jakarta for examination and quarantined.

During the controlling take place, the officers had to argue with the traders who refuse their animal to be brought. But, the chaos can be solved after the officers give them an explanation.

Central Jakarta Mayor, Mangara Pardede told, the controlling is a follow up action of citizen's report related of animal traders’ existence at the area. According to him, all animals which are sold also not have the animal health certificate.

"Jakarta was declared free of rabies since long ago, but the spread from buffer zones could still happen. Moreover, they sell without animal health certificate," explained Pardede, Thursday (4/9).

Mangara told, the traders who secured from Jalan Laturharhary will be joined in judicial trial on upcoming 24 April.

"We will include them in judicial trial. If the court says the animal should be given back, we will give them back. But, if we found rabies seedlings, the animal will be destroyed.
