Alrido (29), an elpiji trader agent around East Flood Canal (KBT), Pondok Bambu Urban Village, Duren Sawit Sub-District, East Jakarta, admitted that since PT Pertamina announced elpiji price increase, his income declines up to 50-70 percent.

Previously, Alrido could sell 80-70 canisters of 12-kilogram elpiji. But now, only 10-15 canisters sold every day.

“Since yesterday, my income declines drastically due to market demand decreases a lot,” he told beritajakarta.com, Thursday (9/11).

According to Alrido, he buys the 12-kilogram elpiji from distributors for more than Rp 110,000 per canister. Thus, he sells it to retailers for as much as Rp 120,000 per canister.

Responding this matter, Head of East Jakarta Industry and Energy Sub-Department, Tuti Kurnia, promised would conduct field survey to prevent unruly people who increase elpiji price not in accordance to government’s regulation.

“We will check to the field to prevent parties increasing elpiji price outside the regulation. But so far, we see that the elpiji agents are still selling the old price,” she stated.

In addition, Kurnia told that the stocks of 12-kilogram elpiji canisters as well as the 3-kilogram elpiji canisters are still normal.
