The cleaning of water channel on Jalan Pegangsaan Timur, RW 01, Pegangsaan Urban Village, Menteng, Central Jakarta is targeted to complete by the end of this month.
Now the progress has reached 70 percent
Menteng Sub-district's Water Resource Head, Dendi Iskandar, explained the cleaning is run along 100 meters since January 20 ago.

The channel, he added, needs to be cleaned since it was full with mud up to 40-50 cm of thickness.
Not only cleaning the channel, his side will also provide control box to ease the monitoring.
"We deploy 10 personnel per day. They clean the channel from mud manually by using hoe and other tools," he added.
One of local residents, Irwan, hoped the cleaning will solve inundation in the area during heavy rain.
"Hopefully the cleaning will prevent inundation during heavy rain," he hoped.
